The Oregon Mortuary and Cemetery Board regularly publishes a newsletter for all licensees and members of the death care industry in Oregon. The Newsletter includes updates to the law, information on Board member or staff changes, and guidance on commonly asked questions.

Lone Fir Cemetery Annual Qingming Festival

Please join us for the annual Qingming Festival at the site of the future Cultural Heritage and Healing Garden at Lone Fir Cemetery Hosted by the Lone Fir Cemetery Foundation in partnership with Wendi YuLing, artist and funeral celebrant.


For decades, the southwest corner of Lone Fir, also known as Block 14, has been depleted of markers honoring individuals who were buried in this barren space. In celebration of Qingming, Wendi YuLing will guide visitors through rituals and practices to recognize individuals throughout Block 14 as well as those we have lost in our own lives.

State Historic Cemeteries

The Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries is seeking a new member for the position representing Southern Oregon.


The group meets four times per year in different locations around the state. There may be an occasional additional meeting for extra projects, programs, and grant selection. Commissioners are also asked to provide informal meetings in their regions or work on other projects outside of meeting time. Travel costs are reimbursed. While protections measures are in place due to COVID, the meetings will be teleconferences.

Please include your reasons for wanting to serve on the commission, any skills or knowledge you will bring to its work, and ideas or goals you have for your participation.

COVID-19 Funeral Assistance

If you incurred COVID-19-related funeral expenses for more than one individual, you may receive at a maximum of $9,000 per deceased individual and a maximum of $35,500 per application, if you incurred funeral expenses for multiple deceased individuals per state, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.

Eligible COVID-19 Funeral Assistance expenses typically include, but are not limited to: Funeral services, Cremation, Interment, Transportation for up to two individuals to identify the deceased individual, Transfer of remains, Casket or urn, Burial plot or cremation niche, Marker or headstone, Clergy or officiant services, Arrangement of the funeral ceremony, Use of funeral home equipment or staff, Costs associated with producing and certifying multiple death certificates, Additional expenses mandated by any applicable local or state government laws or ordinances.
